EXPIRED CONTRACTS.

When you have a contract with any person or organisation, it is important to pay attention to the expiry date of such contract.

Most times, the contract will also provide for how to renew the contract. If not, you must reach out to the other party to clearly state your intention to continue and ensure this is documented.

Failure to do this can cause and cost you a lot.

Recently, a Court sitting granted an order restraining Virony Nigeria Ltd, a leading manufacturer of household items, sanitary wares and daily necessities from using the pictures of Nigerian actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie to promote its products.

The actress was indeed an ambassador for the Company, but the deal had expired. The Company kept using her photos for promotion and she sued them.

In such cases with an intellectual property angle, Courts will also order that any products, adverts, recordings or other materials bearing the name, image, voice, etc of the person involved should be discontinued.

This will mean removing them from billboards, supermarket shelves, etc.
By staying ahead of your contract timelines, you can avoid potential legal disputes and ensure that your business continues to operate smoothly and efficiently.
