
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is an agency set up to regulate and control the manufacture, import, export, advertisement, sale , distribution and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, bottled water and chemicals. Anyone who desires to carry out any of these activities is require to apply for registration.
The body is empowered to set standards to be followed, conduct tests, and investigate premises and raw materials, and other activities that may be related to carrying out the above objectives. It is important to note that registration may be suspended or cancelled for reasons such as false information, unsuitable premises, or violation of any of the conditions upon which registration was granted, to mention a few.
Contravention of any of these requirements could attract a fine, imprisonment, or both, as well as forfeiture of property or business proceeds.
